Payment Methods
Last updated: 1 August 2026
This page explains the payment method available for orders placed through olympiaol.gr and how card payments and refunds are handled by Olympia OL.
1. Available payment method
Orders placed through this e-shop can be paid by credit, debit or prepaid card through Mastercard Payment Gateway Services.
The card brands and payment options available for a particular transaction are those displayed by the payment gateway during checkout. Availability may depend on the card issuer, the customer’s country, the transaction currency and the security requirements applied to the payment.
No bank transfer, cash-on-delivery or other payment method is offered unless it is expressly displayed as available during checkout.
2. Secure card processing
Card payments are processed through Mastercard Payment Gateway Services. Payment-card details are entered directly into the secure payment environment provided for the transaction.
Olympia OL does not receive or store the complete card number, card PIN or card-verification code used for an online payment. The payment gateway, card network and issuing bank may process the information needed to authorise, authenticate and settle the transaction.
The payment provider or card issuer may apply fraud-prevention checks, Strong Customer Authentication, 3-D Secure or another security-verification procedure. The customer may be asked to confirm the payment through the issuing bank’s application, a one-time code or another authentication method.
3. Payment authorisation and order confirmation
A card payment is completed only when the payment gateway and the card issuer authorise the transaction and the e-shop records the order as successfully paid.
A payment may be declined, interrupted or left incomplete because of insufficient funds, issuer restrictions, authentication failure, incorrect card details, security controls, connection failure or another decision made by the payment provider or issuing bank.
An unsuccessful or abandoned payment does not create a paid order. If the customer is uncertain whether a payment was completed, the customer should check the order-confirmation email and card account before attempting payment again, to avoid a duplicate transaction.
An automated order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that the transaction has been finally settled or that the order has been accepted for dispatch. Olympia OL may verify payment status, product availability, delivery information and transaction security before processing the order.
4. Amount charged and currency
The customer is charged the total amount displayed at checkout and confirmed before payment.
If the customer’s card account is maintained in another currency, the issuing bank or card provider may apply its own exchange rate, foreign-transaction fee or other charge. Olympia OL does not determine or receive those charges and is not responsible for them, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
5. Customs duties and destination-country charges
For deliveries outside the European Union, customs duties, tariffs, import taxes, customs-clearance charges, brokerage fees and carrier-handling charges are not included in the card payment unless checkout or the order confirmation expressly states that they are prepaid or included.
Such destination-country charges are normally paid by the recipient directly to the customs authority, postal operator, courier or customs broker. They are not received by Olympia OL and cannot be refunded by Olympia OL.
Customers ordering from outside the European Union should check the import rules, restrictions and possible charges applicable in the destination country before completing the purchase.
6. Card refunds
Refund eligibility is governed by applicable law and the published Shipping & Cancellation Policy. Successful payment does not by itself establish a right to cancel an order or receive a refund.
Where a refund is due, it will normally be submitted through the original card transaction using Mastercard Payment Gateway Services or the payment infrastructure connected to that transaction.
The refund is issued in the currency of the original transaction. The time required for the amount to appear in the customer’s card account depends partly on the card issuer and may extend beyond the date on which Olympia OL submits the refund.
Olympia OL is not responsible for exchange-rate differences, foreign-transaction fees, card-issuer charges or other amounts retained by third parties that Olympia OL did not receive, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
Customers must never send complete card numbers, card PINs, card-verification codes or photographs of payment cards by email, through the contact form or through another unprotected communication channel.
7. Duplicate, reversed or disputed payments
If a customer believes that a payment was duplicated, reversed, incorrectly charged or not recognised, the customer should contact Olympia OL promptly and provide the order number and the limited transaction information reasonably required to investigate the issue.
Olympia OL may place an order or refund on hold while a potentially duplicate, unauthorised, reversed or disputed transaction is investigated with the payment provider.
Starting a chargeback does not replace any return obligation and does not automatically determine whether a cancellation, withdrawal, refund or product claim is legally valid. Olympia OL may provide the card issuer or payment provider with order, payment, delivery and communication records where reasonably necessary to respond to a payment dispute.
8. Payment security
Checkout and payment communications use encrypted connections where supported. Mastercard Payment Gateway Services, the card networks and issuing banks apply their own security, authentication and privacy procedures.
Customers are responsible for protecting their cards, devices, banking credentials and authentication codes. Olympia OL will never ask a customer to disclose a card PIN or complete card-verification code.
